The Gujarat government has announced the promotion of 14 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the state cadre, including the elevation of three officers to the rank of Director General of police (DGP).
The Home Department of the Government in a notification announced promotion of Narasimha Komar, commissioner of police, Vadodara City; Dr Prafulla Kumar Roushan, additional DGP (armed units), Rajkot and Dr S Pandia Rajkumar, additional DGP (law and order), Gandhinagar, to the DGP grade.
Their existing cadre or ex-cadre posts were upgraded to ex-cadre DGP-level posts to accommodate the promotions, the Home Department order said.
The Gujarat government also granted a proforma promotion to Dr Vipul Aggarwal, a 2001-batch IPS officer currently on central deputation as principal commissioner, Delhi Development Authority. He has been elevated to the Additional Director General of police (ADGP) grade under provisions of the IPS (Pay) Rules, 2016.
Among 2008-batch officers, Neeraj Kumar Badgujar, additional commissioner of police, sector-1, Ahmedabad City, has been promoted to the inspector general of police (IGP) grade and appointed as joint commissioner of police, sector-1, following the upgradation of the post to cadre status.
Three other officers of the 2008-batch including Sarah Rizvi, Shobha Bhutada and Pradip Shejul have been granted proforma promotions to the IGP grade while serving on inter-cadre or central deputation.
The notification also cleared the promotion of six 2012-batch IPS officers to the deputy inspector general of police (DIG) grade including Saurabh Singh, currently on central deputation, Sudhir Desai, superintendent of police (intelligence), Gandhinagar; Balram Meena, ADC to the governor of Gujarat, Dr Karanraj Vaghela, DCP (economic wing), Surat City, SV Parmar, commandant, SRPF group-15, Mehsana and AM Muniya, commandant, SRPF group-5, Godhra.
In the notification the Home Department said that all conditions under Rule 8(6) o of the IPS (Pay) Rules, 2016 have been fulfilled for officers, who have been granted proforma promotions while on deputation.
