Neeraj Kumar Gupta Appointed Head Of NSE Int. Exchange

Former Secretary in the Union Finance Ministry, Neeraj Kumar Gupta (Retd IAS: 1982: UP) has been appointed Chairman and Public Interest Director of the NSE International Exchange (NSE IX), effective April 1, 2025.

His appointment was approved by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). Gupta succeeds Rajeev Mehrishi (Retd IAS: 1978: RJ) at NSE IX, which operates from the GIFT City in Ahmedabad — envisioned as a global financial hub.

Gupta retired in 2018 as Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), and played a key role in shaping Union Budgets and implementing disinvestment and asset monetisation strategies. He also chaired the National Task Force for Promotion of Digital and Cashless Economy (2016–2018).

What is NSE IX?

NSE IX provides Indian investors access to global equities and investment products without relying on foreign exchanges like Singapore or London. It offers a domestic platform for listing and trading foreign and Indian equity products and derivatives, including the GIFT Nifty (formerly SGX Nifty).
