The expansion of cooperative activities in the milk production sector has boosted the turnover of Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation to over Rs 1 lakh crore.
The cooperative model has not only bolstered the state's economy but also enhanced the livelihoods of millions of dairy farmers. Gujarat's milk production has grown at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 4.96 per cent, outpacing the national average of 4.57 per cent.
The state minister claimed that Gujarat is home to over 89,000 active cooperative societies, with an estimated 1.71 crore members. This means one in every four Gujaratis is a member of a cooperative.
The "White Revolution" in Gujarat is regarded as the largest cooperative achievement in the country, famously known as the "Taste of India." GCMMF includes 18 member unions and 18,600 village-level milk cooperative societies across 33 districts of Gujarat.
