MeitY Secretary S Krishnan Elected IAS Association President

New executive team includes LBSNAA Director Taranikanti Sriram, and Delhi Principal Secretary A Anbarasu as vice-presidents

The IAS Association has announced the election of its new executive team, with 1989-batch Tamil Nadu cadre officer S Krishnan, who is currently the Union Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), as president. 

Others who have been elected include Taranikanti Sriram, a Tripura cadre officer of the 1992-batch, who is currently posted as the Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy Of Administration (LBSNAA), and A Anbarasu, a 1996-batch officer of the UT cadre, who is currently holding the post of the Principal Secretary (Home) in the government of the NCT of Delhi. Both have been elected vice presidents of the Association.  

As per the list announced by the Association, Sports Ministry Joint Secretary Kunal, as 2005-batch IAS officer of the UT cadre, has been appointed secretary, while Aditi Singh, an IAS officer of the 2009-batch from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, who is currently posted as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development, has been appointed as the treasurer.    

There are two retired IAS officers also taken on board by the Association: 1988-batch Madhya Pradesh cadre officer Sanjay Bandhopadhyaya, and Sanjay Bhoosreddy, an officer of the 1989-batch from the UP cadre. 

There are two Joint Secretaries — Chinmay Gotmare, an Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer of the 2009-batch, and Shelesh Nawal of the Maharashtra cadre from the 2010 batch. 

Besides them, there are nine serving officers from the 1995-2013 batches, who been elected members of the Association. They include Othare (GJ:1995), Rahul Singh (BH:1996), Prasanna (CG:2004), Nitin Khade (AM:2004), Dinesh Kumar (NL:2004), Ratan Chand Thakur (HP:2009), Manasi Sahay Thakur (HP: 2009), Shah Fsesal (UT: 2010) and Naveen Aggarwal (UT:2013)

According to a statement released by the Association, Krishnan in his presidential address “emphasised the need for the IAS community to actively demonstrate its value to the system through collaborative engagement, ethical leadership and institutional contribution".

He also underlined the importance of mentoring younger officers, projecting the service’s positive work in the public sphere, and strengthening partnerships with state associations.  

The Central IAS Association serves as a vital forum for addressing the concerns and aspirations of IAS officers across cadres. With a seasoned team now at the helm, the association is expected to focus on key issues such as cadre welfare, professional development, and policy engagement.
