Manoj Pant Is New Chief Secretary Of West Bengal; Top Bureaucrats Also Reshuffled

The order appointing Pant on Saturday comes after a major reshuffle of the top-level bureaucracy was affected in the state

The West Bengal government on Saturday appointed senior IAS officer Manoj Pant as chief secretary of the state.

Pant replaces B.P Gopalika who superannuates on August 31, 2024.

The order came after a major reshuffle of the top-level bureaucracy was affected in the state.

The state government on Friday night, had given Additional Chief Secretary Prabhat Kumar Mishra, a 1993-batch IAS officer,  the responsibility of the Finance Department with additional charge of the Department of Planning and Statistics. These subjects were earlier handled by Pant.

Mishra was earlier looking after irrigation and waterways with additional charge of the Water Resources Investigation and Development Department and Project Director, AIDM.

Pant, a 1991-batch IAS officer,  was last night entrusted with the responsibility of irrigation and waterways, before his elevation on Saturday.

Additional Chief Secretary Roshni Sen, a 1993-batch officer, was on Friday night appointed  the new ACS of the Water Resources Investigation and Development Department and Project Director ADMI, earlier looked after by Mishra.

Sen will continue to look after fisheries, aquaculture, aquatic resources and fishing harbour in the capacity of additional chief secretary and discharge responsibilities as the chairman and managing director of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.
