Major Reshuffle In Gujarat Bureaucracy, Many Top Officers Changed

Some 18 top officers including nine additional chief secretaries among those reshuffled by the state government

In a major reshuffle the Gujarat state government on Wednesday moved around its key bureaucrats including several key additional chief secretaries.

Among others, Sunaina Tomar, IAS (1989 batch), Additional Chief Secretary who was earlier heading Social Justice & Empowerment Department has been given charge of Education Department (Higher & Technical Education) in place of Mr Mukesh Kumar. Tomar will also continue to hold additional charge of her former office in Social Justice & Empowerment till further orders.

Pankaj Joshi, IAS, also an Additional Chief Secretary will hold additional charge of the  post of Ports & Transport Department, replacing Manoj Kumar Das, IAS (1990), who has been now appointed Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister. Das will also hold additional charge of the crucial Home Department.

Jayanti S. Ravi, IAS (1991), on her repatriation to the State Cadre, has been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary in charge of the Revenue Department. Swaroop P., IAS (2003) will hold additional charge of the post of Secretary, Revenue Department, till Ravi, comes and assumes charge of the department.

Anju Sharma, IAS (1991), Additional Chief Secretary , Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department has been,  transferred and appointed as Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation  Department.  

S.J. Haider, IAS (1991), Additional Chief Secretary, Industries & Mines has been  transferred and appointed as Additional Chief Secretary, Energy & Petrochemicals Department in place of Mamta Verma, who will replace him in Industries &Mines.

Jagdish Prasad Gupta, IAS, also an Additional Chief Secretary has been transferred from the Finance Department to Gandhinagar and appointed as head of Tribal Development Department, in place of Dr. S. Murali Krishna, IAS.            .

T. Natarajan, IAS (1996), on his repatriation to the State Cadre, has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Finance Department. Rajeev Topno, IAS (1996) will hold additional charge of the post of Principal Secretary, Finance Department  till Natarajan is able to join his duties.

Mukesh Kumar, IAS (1996), has been appointed Principal Secretary to Government, Education Department (Primary & Secondary Education). 

Dr. S. Murali Krishna, IAS (1998), Principal Secretary, Tribal Development Department, has been transferred and his services placed at the disposal of State Election Commission for appointment as Officer on Special Duty to Commissioner, State Election Commission.

Vinod Ramachandra Rao, IAS (2000), Secretary, Education Department (Primary & Secondary Education), has been transferred and appointed as Secretary, Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department.

While, Anupam Anand, IAS (2000), Commissioner of Labour, Gandhinagar has been transferred and appointed as Commissioner of Transport, Gandhinagar relieving Rajesh Manjhu, IAS of additional charge of that post. Anand will also hold additional charge of the post of Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, Ahmedabad until further orders vice Shri A.M. Sharma, IAS.

Rajesh Manjhu, IAS (2004), Principal Secretary to Hon'ble Governor of Gujarat, has been transferred and appointed as Revenue Inspection Commissioner & Ex-officio Secretary to Government, Revenue Department, relieving Ms. Mona K. Khandhar, IAS of additional charge of that post.

A.M. Sharma, IAS (2008), Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, Ahmedabad has been transferred and  appointed as Principal Secretary to Hon'ble Governor of Gujarat, Gandhinagar.

Rakesh Shankar, IAS (2004), Secretary,  General Administration Department (Planning), has also been transferred and appointed as Commissioner & Secretary of Women & Child Development. Shankar replaces  K.K. Nirala, IAS (2005), who has now been appointed Secretary (Expenditure).
