With 29 senior officers set to retire in 2026, the Madhya Pradesh government has taken steps to identify and appoint eligible IAS and IPS officers.
According to sources, the State government is mulling a major reshuffle to ensure smooth administration and uninterrupted governance following the retirement of the senior officers.
The government may need to fill the vacancy of the Chief Secretary, as the incumbent Anurag Jain is scheduled to retire on September 30, 2026. Shivpuri Collector Ravindra Kumar Chaudhary, Shahdol Collector Kedar Singh, and Chambal Division Commissioner Suresh Kumar are also scheduled to retire next year.
Principal Secretary of Mineral Resources and Animal Husbandry Department Umakant Umrao (1996-batch IAS officer) is scheduled to retire next August.
The 29 IAS and IPS officers of the Madhya Pradesh cadre were set to retire in 2025. Of them, 11 IPS officers, including the DGP, were also scheduled for retirement. The DGP received a one-year service extension based on an SC order.
Special DG Pawan Srivastava is set to retire this month.
Sources said that these retirements mark a significant transition in Madhya Pradesh’s administrative and police hierarchy. "The Chief Minister's Office, in partnership with the General Administration Department, is expected to take a final call on the appointments and transfers that would ensure governance stability," the sources said.
