The government has also appointed Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan as the next Chief of Naval Staff

Lieutenant General N S Raja Subramani to be next CDS

The government has appointed Lieutenant General N S Raja Subramani (Retd.), who has been serving as Military Adviser at the National Security Council since September 2025, as the new Chief of Defence Staff. He will also function as Secretary to Government of India, Department of Military Affairs, with effect from the date of assumption of charge and until further orders.

CDS, General Anil Chauhan's tenure comes to and end on May 30.

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan will take over as the next Chief of Naval Staff. He is presently the Western Naval Commander in Mumbai and will take charge on May 31, according to an official announcement.
