The decision came just a day ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament (starting from December 1).
Singh assumed charge as the Secretary-General of Lok Sabha on November 30, 2020. He succeeded Snehlata Shrivastava, a retired 1982-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre.
His current tenure was set to end on November 30, 2025.
Singh has been in the role for about five years, ensuring administrative stability in the Lok Sabha Secretariat during critical Parliamentary proceedings and international engagements.
Before taking over as Lok Sabha Secretary-General, Singh served as the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, concluding a distinguished career in the IAS. His previous roles at the Centre include his tenure as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare.
