Kerala Polls: EC Directs Transfer Of IAS, IPS Officers

Ahead of the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections in Kerala, the Election Commission (EC) of India has directed the transfer of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the state.

In a letter, the EC said that it had reviewed the poll preparedness for the upcoming Legislative Assembly election in Kerala and transferred five officers.

Narayanan (IPS, 2011) has been posted as the District Police Chief, Kozhikode. Thomson Jose (IPS, 2009) has been posted in Thrissur. Inbasekar K (IAS, 2015) has been appointed as the District Collector-cum-Distric Election Officer (DEO), Alapuzha.

Vandana S. has been posted as the Revenue Divisional Officer, Thaliparambacum-RO Irikkur in Kannur District. Sachin Krishna has been posted as the District Registrar General, Kannur-cum-RO Dharmadam in Kannur District. 

The directive follows the Commission’s review of poll preparedness in the state. 

Administrative reshuffles, particularly in the police and district administration, are a routine measure by the EC to ensure that law and order is maintained during elections.

The directive was issued by Pawan Diwan, Secretary of the Election Commission.

Kerala goes to the polls on April 9. Votes will be counted on May 4.
