Karmayogi Swastha Suraksha Yojana Announced: Rs 10 Lakh Health Cover For State Staff

This policy decision of the government will benefit 6.40 lakh officers and employees and pensioners

An important decision was made during the recent cabinet meeting held in Gandhinagar. Government spokesperson and Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel announced launch of the the Gujarat Karmayogi Swastha Suraksha Yojana for all government officers, employees and pensioners. Under this scheme, a cashless health benefit package will be provided.

Similar to the benefits offered under the existing PMJAY-MAA scheme, this new initiative will include all “Karmayogis” (government employees and pensioners). They will be given AB-PMJAY-MAA card of “G” series. The issuance of these cards will be overseen by the PMJAY nodal agency SHA (State Health Agency).

Under this, cashless treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh per family will be available annually for the treatment of prescribed medical procedures at government hospitals, government-equivalent hospitals, and PMJAY-empanelled hospitals.

Outpatient (OPD) treatments will not be included under this scheme. However, the existing medical allowance (Rs. 1000) will continue.

Currently, 2,658 hospitals (Private Hospitals: 904, Government Hospitals: 1,754) are associated with the PMJAY scheme. Out of this, 2,471 prescribed procedures are covered. All those who are eligible for medical reimbursement as per the current system will get the benefit of this scheme.

Under this scheme, the state government will bear a burden of Rs. 303.3 crore as premium.
