Raisina Hill is where the country's policymaking heart lies. What the mandarins, who sit in the hallowed halls of the early 20th century structure called South and North blocs, decide is the final word in running India.

As one walks down the Hill along the Rajpath, now renamed Kartavya Path, come other edifices — Rail Bhavan, Krishi Bhavan, Shashtri Bhavan, and Kartavya Bhavan on one side and Sena Bhavan, Udyog Bhavan, and Vanijya Bhavan on the other. The bureaucrats who adorn the offices in these buildings decide on India's economic, social, and industrial policies. There are many tales to be told from the corridors of these grandiose buildings. We let you in on some of them here in this week's edition of "Inside Raisina Hill".

Change Of Guard

With the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) raising objections over having a foreign national as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of an operational airport (Noida International Airport Limited), the Yamuna International Airport Private Ltd (YIAPL), after the inauguration of the Jewar Airport, appointed its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Nitu Samra, as the interim CEO.

Samra replaces Christoph Schnellmann, who is a Swiss national. Schnellmann will now join the airport’s board of directors as the Executive Vice Chairman.

The MHA had turned down a request to tweak rules to allow a foreign national to hold the post of CEO of a greenfield airport, keeping in mind the security of air operations. The decision directly impacted Noida airport, developed and operated by the YIAPL, a subsidiary of the Swiss firm Zurich Airport International AG.

Samra has been serving as CFO of Noida International Airport Limited since October 2021 and has been closely involved in the airport’s development, overseeing financial stewardship, governance, and strategic planning during a key phase of the project.

SCOPE, ICF Join Hands

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) joins hands with the US-based International Coaching Federation (ICF) to launch a first-of-its-kind comprehensive study, State of Coaching in Indian PSEs. It is aimed at assessing the current coaching landscape and organisational culture across Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).

After the study is completed, the joint exercise will help in developing a tailored coaching framework for Indian PSEs, enabling the integration of structured coaching practices and the creation of internal coaching capabilities within organisations. It will also adopt a combination of primary and secondary data collection methods to build an evidence-based strategic framework.

The study is expected to redefine leadership excellence in the public sector. It will focus on equipping PSEs with specialised tools and methodologies to embed coaching into their leadership development processes.
