Taking a big step into India’s fast-growing space scene, the Gujarat government today officially rolled out its SpaceTech Policy (2025-2030). The announcement was made under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Inspired by the rich legacy left behind by the Father of Indian Space Program Dr Vikram Sarabhai, the policy reflects the state’s push to support tech-driven industries and is aimed at encouraging innovation on home turf.
The new SpaceTech Policy is all about supporting the full range of space-related activities—from building satellite parts and communication systems to designing applications and setting up control centres. The plan also includes setting up a Centre for Excellence to train talent and boost research in this fast-growing field. The state wants to make it easier for startups and businesses to operate within the state, with both financial support and practical infrastructure. There’s also a space manufacturing park in the works, being developed in collaboration with IN-SPACe, Department of Space (Government of India), to give companies the tools they need to build and grow.
This move ties in with Gujarat’s broader tech focus—alongside its policies for electronics, semiconductors, and IT. The goal? To position the state as a key player in high-tech manufacturing and push forward the vision of a self-reliant India.
