The Gujarat Government, on Thursday, announced appointments of a dozen police officers in various crucial positions like the Joint Commissioner of Police for Ahmedabad and Surat, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Ahmedabad and for Cyber Crime.
The list includes two officers who returned to the state cadre after completing their central deputations in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and others who were waiting for postings in the state after the Model Code of Conduct came into force. Officers who had completed three years in office were moved out and were kept in waiting for their new positions.
Gagandeep Gambhir, an IPS officer of the 2004 batch Gujarat cadre, has been made Inspector-General (Administration) in the Police Bhawan. She returned to the state cadre after completing her tenure in the CBI.
Another officer who returned from the CBI is 2005 batch IPS Raghvendra Vatsa, who has been posted in Surat as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).
In Ahmedabad, Sharad Singhal, a 2006 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), while Ajit Rajian, a 2015 batch IPS officer, has been made Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime).
Neeraj Kumar Badgujar, currently posted as Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ahmedabad has been shifted as ACP, Sector I, Ahmedabad.
Chatanya Mandlik, a 2011 batch IPS officer, who was earlier DCP (Crime) in Ahmedabad has been appointed as Superintendent of Police, CID (Crime) in Gandhinagar.
Dr Lavina Sinha has been shifted from DCP, Zone-1 in Ahmedabad to the Cyber Crime unit of the city. She is a 2017 batch IPS of Gujarat cadre and daughter of former Chief Secretary Varesh Sinha. Her husband, Videh Khare, is the District Development Officer of Ahmedabad.
