In a recent administrative reshuffle, the Gujarat Government's General Administration Department has transferred two IAS officers, marking significant changes in key district leadership.
Amit Arora, who had been serving as the Collector of Kutch, has been reassigned to a new role at the iconic Statue of Unity in Kevadia. Initially, there was speculation that he might continue as a Collector in another district, but instead, he will now take charge as the Chief Administrator of the renowned tourist site.
Stepping into Arora’s position in Kutch is Anand Patel, a 2010-batch IAS officer who previously served as Additional Secretary in the Finance Department, overseeing budget responsibilities. Patel’s appointment, effective from September 2024, comes just six months after he assumed his previous role. Hailing from Himmatnagar, he has also held the position of Municipal Commissioner in Rajkot. Notably, he was reassigned following the tragic incident at the Game Zone in Rajkot.
Amit Arora, a 2012-batch IAS officer, has a track record of serving in multiple districts, including Godhra. Four years ago, he also held the position of Municipal Commissioner in Rajkot. Originally from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Arora had been leading Kutch as its Collector since April 2023 before this latest transfer.
