The Bhupendra Patel government has transferred two women IAS officers, Mona Khandhar of the 1996 batch and Manisha Chandra of the 2004 batch. Both Khandhar and Chandra have served in different departments in the Gujarat Secretariat as well as the district.
Khandhar, who was serving as Principal Secretary in the Panchayat Department since June 2023 with additional charge of Science and Technology, has been released from the Panchayat department and given a regular posting in Science and Technology. She has formulated policies in semiconductors, electronics and biotechnology. In her distinguished career, Khandhar has delivered on important tasks. She served as the Nodal Officer at the G-20 Summit. Apart from this, she also served as Principal Secretary (Economic Affairs) in the Finance Department. From 2013 to 2015, she has worked as Secretary and Commissioner in the Urban Development Department.
On the other hand, Chandra, Commissioner of Rural Development and Secretary of Rural Development, will now take over as Secretary in the Panchayat and Rural Housing Department. She will hold additional charge of Commissioner of Rural Development and Rural Development Department. Originally from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, the officer has served in various departments in the state government from District Collector. She has also worked as Secretary (Expenditure) in the Finance Department. In 2021, when he was Commissioner and Secretary in the Women and Child Development Department, he was also empanelled at the Centre. Academically she has pursued MA in Political Science and MSc in Public Policy and Management from King's College, London.
