The government is set to approve 21 new Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) estates, across 13 districts, that are expected to boost industrial growth and employment opportunities. The final clearance is likely be givn in next week’s cabinet meeting.
Announced in the 2024-25 budget, these estates will use pre-identified government-owned land with fixed prices categorised by location.
Sources revealed that the government has categorised the land of these 21 GIDCs into three different zones, based on their prices. The land in the most remote and secluded locations will be priced at the 'Jantri' (government-fixed rate) value.
The price of land in slightly better locations will be 125 per cent of the 'Jantri' rate, and of land in prime locations, it will be 150 per cent of the 'Jantri' rate. The Industries Department will pay the Revenue Department this amount.
Government sources further stated that after finalising the location and price of the land, the file has been sent for approval to the central government by the state ministry. Once the cabinet minister gives his nod, it is likely to be approved in the cabinet meeting next week.
