Gujarat Govt Running Short Of 195 Civil Servants

Of these, 95 posts that have fallen vacant are IAS, 63 IPS and 37 IFS

A total of 195 officers are being shortlisted by the Centre for three different cadres of the civil services to be deployed in Gujarat. Of these, 95 posts are in the Indian Administration Service (IAS), 63 in the Indian Police Service (IPS) and 37 in the Indian Forest Service (IFS).

The authorised strength has never been completely filled in Gujarat, which currently has 218 IAS officers, against a designated total of 313. In the IPS, there are 145 officers on duty against 208 posts, and 88 in the IFS, against the designated 125 posts.

On an average, more than a dozen officers retire every year in these three cadres. IAS cadre officers work in the state administration, IPS officers in the police department and IFS in the forest department. The percentage of officers in the central and state deputation reserve cadre is also fixed.

26 Officers To Retire In 2025

Ahead of Gujarat organising the 11th Vibrant Investors Summit in 2026, 16 IAS officers are going to retire from the state's cadre this year, with eight IPS and two IFS officers also approaching retirement.
