A major administrative reshuffle has taken place in Gujarat, with one of the most notable changes occurring in the Urban Development Department. Ashwini Kumar, who was serving as Principal Secretary of the department, has been relieved of his duties. The charge has now been handed over to M. Thennarasan. The General Administration Department of the state has transferred 13 IAS officers, out of which four have been given additional charges.
Ashwini Kumar’s new posting has come as a surprise—he has been assigned the additional charge of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department. Meanwhile, Ramesh Chandra Meena, who was serving as Principal Secretary in the Food and Civil Supplies Department, has been transferred to the Ports and Transport Department.
Milind Torawane, who was the Managing Director of GSPC (Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation), has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Panchayat Department. However, he will continue to hold additional charge of GSPC as well as the Commissioner of Rural Development.
In another move, Arti Kanwar, Secretary of the Finance Department (Economic Affairs), has been assigned the additional charge of Expenditure division. Superintendent of Stamps, Janu Devan, has been given additional charge as Managing Director of Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL). Prabhav Joshi, who was the Collector of Rajkot, has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat.
Later in the day, following several internal meetings, the government issued the transfer orders, which included the appointment of Tejas Parmar as the Municipal Commissioner of Junagadh. Om prakash has been appointed as the new Collector of Rajkot in place of Parmar. Additionally, three DDOs (District Development Officers) have also been transferred.
It is noteworthy that the reshuffle also fills the vacancies left by four officers—K.K. Nirala, Manisha Chandra, Supreet Singh Gulati, and S. Chhakchhuak—who are currently on central deputation.
