Gujarat Government Orders Major Reshuffle Of 26 IAS Officers

The Gujarat administration has carried out a major reshuffle involving 26 IAS officers, marking one of the most significant administrative changes in recent times. Among the key moves, Avantika Singh, who was serving as Additional Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, has been transferred. Vikrant Pandey, who was posted as Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, has been promoted to replace her.

Meanwhile, Sanjiv Kumar, Principal Secretary (Forest and Environment), has been appointed to the vacant CMO post earlier held by M. K. Das. After a long gap, the state government has effected these large-scale transfers. Vikrant Pandey has also been given additional charge of the Information and Broadcasting Department, while Sanjiv Kumar has been entrusted with the additional charge of the Home Department. Ajay Kumar, who has returned from deputation, has been posted as Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office. Overall, the government has implemented sweeping changes within the CMO.

On the departmental front, Rameshchandra Meena has been appointed Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, while Mukesh Kumar has taken charge as Additional Chief Secretary, Higher and Technical Education. Milind Torawane has been posted to Primary and Secondary Education, and Ashwini kumar to Energy and Petrochemicals. Former CMO Additional Principal Secretary Avantika Singh has been appointed Managing Director of GSPC. Rahul Gupta, Secretary, has been transferred to Sports and Youth Affairs and given additional charge of Climate Change.

In other appointments, Jenu Devan, Superintendent of Stamps, has been given additional charge as Managing Director of GUVNL along with responsibilities in the Finance Department (Expenditure). Arti Kanwar has been posted as Chief Commissioner in Sales Tax, while Vinod Rao has been appointed Principal Secretary, Forest and Environment. Anju Sharma from the Agriculture Department has been named Additional Chief Secretary in the General Administration Department. Hareet Shukla has been given additional charge of Ports and Transport. Rajiv Topno has been posted to Health and Family Welfare, and Sandhya Bhullar, returning from deputation, has been appointed Health Commissioner (Urban).

Among the notable changes, Dr. Rajendrakumar has been shifted from the Tourism Department and appointed Transport Commissioner. Officers returning from deputation, Lochan Sehra and Dhananjay Dwivedi, have been posted to the Labour and Skill Development Department and the Panchayat Department respectively.
