In a significant development, Shamsher Singh, the current Director General of the Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), has been appointed as the Additional Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) for a tenure upto the 31st of March 2026.
Mr. Singh, who has a distinguished record of service in the Indian Police Service, will soon be taking over the charge, said official sources.
The Union Home Ministry in a letter to the Gujarat chief secretary has "requested that Dr Singh be relieved immediately to enable him to join his new assignment at the centre."
Dr Shamsher Singh, who belongs to 1991 IPS batch of the Gujarat Cadre, is currently posted as DGP, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gujarat Government.
The BSF, a paramilitary force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, plays a crucial role in guarding India's borders.
Shamsher Singh is expected to bring valuable experience and leadership to the BSF as it continues to address security challenges along the borders.
