Govt Empanels 68 IPS Officers to Hold IG, Equivalent Posts at Centre

According to officials the decision was taken after the Union Ministry of Home Affairs reviewed proposals and assessed the officers’ service records, experience and administrative performance

Centre Empanels 68 IPS Officers For IG-Level Posts

The government in its latest order approved empanelment of 68 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the cadres including Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, AGMUT, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and others for holding the post of Inspector General (IG) or Equivalent at the Centre.

The officers belong to 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008 batches. The maximum number of officers belong to the 2008 batch.

In an order issued on late Tuesday night the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) said, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of Indian Police Service officers for holding the post of Inspector General or Equivalent at the Centre.”

Maximum of nine officers belong to AGMUT cadre, whereas seven from Jharkhand, six from Bihar, four from Odisha.

From the Jammu & Kashmir segment of the UT cadre, the officers, who have been cleared for the IG rank include Vikramjit Singh, Abdul Jabbar, Sarah Rizvi and Tejinder Singh. From Odisha the officers are Soorya Thankappan, Sarthak Sarangi), Umashankar Dash and Parkash R, as per the notification.

From Bihar are Upendra Kumar Sharma, Satyaveer Singh, Vikas Burman, Natasha Guria, Kim, and Manojay Kumar and from Jharkhand they are Akhilesh Kumar Jha, Mayur Patel, Kanhaiya Lal, Rakesh Bansal, Anish Gupta, M Tamilvanan and Ajay Linda.

According to the DoPT order, the empanelment has been done in three categories include Initial Leftover, Initial and First Review.

Among the officers, who have been empanelled as part of Initial Leftover include Soorya Thankappan (2001: OD), Akhilesh Kumar Jha (2003: JH), Vikramjit Singh (2004: AGMUT), Vikas Kumar (2004: RJ), Patel Mayur Kanaiya Lal (2007: JH), Sarthak Sarangi (2007: OD) and Amandeep Singh Kapoor (2007: RJ).

As part of the Initial category, the order said 35 IPS officers have been empanelled and thy include Atul Kumar (2008: AGMUT), Pankaj Kumar Singh (2008: AGMUT), Anto Alphones (2008: AGMUT), Devender Arya (2008: AGMUT), Tejinder Singh (2008: AGMUT), Abdul Jabbar (2008: AGMUT), Davis Nestell Rangsa Marak (2008: AM), Aditya Goenka (2008: AM), S Senthil Kumar (2008: AP), Navdeep Singh Grewal (2008: AP) and Shemushi (2008: AP).

Others in the list are Upendra Kumar Sharma (2008: BH), Satya Veer Singh (2008: BH) Vikash Burman (2008: BH), Nitasha Guria (2008: BH), Kim (2008: BH), Manoj Kumar (2008: BH), Neethu Kamal (2008: CH), Davuluri Shravan (2008: CH), Sarah Afzal Ahmed Rizvi (2008: GJ), Shobha Purushottam Bhutada (2008: GJ) and Pradip Bhimrao Shejul (2008: GJ).

Among those, who have been empanelled following the First Review include Anand Prakash Tiwari (2004: AM), Romil Baaniya (2007: AGMUT), Aslam Khan (2007: AGMUT), Rakesh Bansal (2007: JH), Rajashekara N (2007: NL), Mamta Rahul (2007: RJ) and Janmejaya P Kailash (2007: UK).

According to officials the decision was taken after the Union Ministry of Home Affairs reviewed proposals and assessed the officers’ service records, experience and administrative performance.

They said, the empanelment enables these officers to be considered for senior-level positions in central organisations such as the Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Central Bureau of Investigation, National Investigation Agency and the Intelligence Bureau.
