Govt Appoints 17 IAS Officers In The Rank Of Additional Secretary

Prominent among the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, appointed as Additional Secretaries include, 1996-batch batch AGMUT cadre officer A Ambarasu, who has been given charge of the post of Director General (Acquisition) in the Ministry of Defence.

In the Ministry of Defence 1999-batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre Pawan Kumar Sharma, who is currently holding post of Joint Secretary, has been given in-situ upgradation to the rank of Additional Secretary.  

Another important posting has been given to Diwakar Nath Mishra, a 2000-batch officer of Assam Meghalaya cadre. Mishra has been made Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue in the Finance Ministry. Along with this Anu P Mathai of 1995-batch has been given charge of the Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance.

Hirdesh Kumar, a 1999-batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as the CEO of the NATGRID in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.       

Manish Bhardwaj of Gujarat cadre IAS officer of 1997-batch has been made the Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority, under the Ministry of Home Affairs in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India by temporarily downgrading the post to that of Additional Secretary level.

COVID-time fame IAS officer Lav Aggarwal, a 1996-batch from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been sent to the Ministry of Women & Child Development as Additional Secretary.

Others include Sanjay Rastogi, IAS (OR:1991), Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Anil Kumar Singhal, IAS (AP:93), as Chief Executive Officer, the National Rainfed Area Authority, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Sudeep Jain, IAS, (TN:94), Additional Secretary of New & Renewable Energy, Dheeraj Sahu, IAS (UP:96), Managing Director, Small Farmers Agri Business Consortium, Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Sunil Kumar Barnwal, IAS (JH:97), Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education as CEO, National Health Authority in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India by temporarily downgrading the post to the level of Additional Secretary.

Meanwhile, Shantanu, IAS (TR:97), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region has been promoted in-situ to hold the post of Additional Secretary.
