The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions has announced a one-month extension in the timeline for recording the Performance Appraisal Reports (PAR) of All India Services (AIS) officers (IAS, IPS, and IFS) for the appraisal year 2025–26.
According to an official communication issued from Kartavya Bhavan, New Delhi, the extension was granted due to the active involvement of AIS officers in the ongoing State Legislative Assembly elections across five states, which caused difficulties in completing their self-appraisal within the earlier deadline.
The updated appraisal schedule is as follows: Self-Appraisal has been extended to 30 June 2026, the Reporting Authority Appraisal has been extended to 31 August 2026, the Reviewing Authority Appraisal is till 31 October 2026, and the
Accepting Authority Appraisal remains 31 December 2026.
The order clarifies that no remarks will be recorded after 31 December 2026 in the PAR for the appraisal year 2025–26, in accordance with provisions of the AIS (PAR) Rules, 2007.
The Department emphasised that this extension has been approved as a one-time relaxation measure by the competent authority to ensure adequate time for the completion of the appraisal process without affecting administrative timelines.
The decision is expected to provide relief to IAS, IPS, and IFS officers engaged in election-related duties, allowing them sufficient time to complete their performance documentation accurately.
