Government Committed To Removing Obstacles In RE Sector: Rushikesh Patel

The government is committed to removing all obstacles faced by the renewable energy sector, says Rushikesh Patel, Minister for Energy and Petrochemicals.

Addressing the gathering at The Secretariat RE Conclave-Gujarat 2026 in Gandhinagar on Wednesday, Patel assured that the the government will consider the deliberations at the conclave.

The RE Conclave brought together experts, officials, and stakeholders from various parts of the country, for deliberations on solar, wind, bio-mass, geothermal sector, and other segments.

Discussions were also held on capacity-building in skill development, finance, energy storage, concentrated solar, AgroPV, and allied sectors. 

The conclave was supported by leading industry bodies, the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Gujarat Federation of Solar Industries, the Federation of Kutch Industries Association, the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and the Indian Chamber of Commerce.

Ashwani Kumar, Principal Secretary, Energy & Petrochemicals Department, and other officials highlighted the major newly announced policies.

On the Pump Storage Policy, he said that it was aimed at creating 75 GW of pump storage, with an investment of approximately ₹75,000 crore.

The Integrated Renewable Energy Policy aims to take the renewable energy capacity to 100 GW by creating infrastructure in solar, wind, hybrid, and storage systems, he further said. 

On the innovation ecosystem, Kumar said, "We have over 12,900 startups, more than 210 incubators, and close to 320 mentors. This also includes about 800 women-led startups."

Ahmedabad-based think tank Innovative Thought Forum was the knowledge partner for the event.
