Government Announces Key Appointments and Tenure Extensions

There has been a new appointment in the Commerce Ministry and tenure extensions in Earth Sciences and Home Affairs

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet issued a series of notifications on Thursday night, announcing new appointments and extensions of tenure for senior officials across key departments.

Anwesh Kumar Aileni (IRSME, 2013) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), under the Department of Commerce. His appointment is for a period of four years.

The position has been created by downgrading one of the vacant posts of Additional Director General of Foreign Trade (ADGFT) within the DGTR.

In another decision, the tenure of M. Ravichandran as Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, has been extended for a period of one year. He will now serve in the role until May 31, 2026.

Similarly, Rakesh Kumar Pandey (IDAS, 2003), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been granted a one-year extension in his current role.

These changes reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen administrative leadership across key sectors.
