The latest attraction for business representatives and visitors to the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), Gandhinagar, is going to be a central park, on the lines of similar spaces in metros across the globe.

The first phase, covering 7 acres, is nearing completion and is expected to open soon. The design work for the second phase, covering 14 acres, has been completed.

A senior GIFT City official said the Central Park is going to be a prime green space located at the heart of GIFT City, which will further strengthen its social infrastructure. The park has been designed not just for occasional or ceremonial events, but also with the daily needs of residents and office workers in mind.

A Global Fiesta On Cards

According to him, the first phase will be completed within two months and include a food court, international food restaurants, a public plaza, an entry court, seating areas, an event garden, a shaded walking-jogging track, a cycling track, a terrace spillover area, and misting facilities.

The second phase will also feature a food and beverage facility with 30 outlets, covering the ground and first floors, as well as the terrace. There will also be kiosk-restaurants, entertainment activities, and facilities for large gatherings and ceremonies.

Overall, within the Central Park, an open 24x7 food zone spread across 1,01,796 sq ft, is being set up. This area will host at least six international hospitality brands, serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

Another GIFT City official stated that both hospitality zones coming up in the Central Park, and a food court coming up in the Sabarmati Riverfront area will offer both Indian and international cuisine.

Unlike the Central Park food zone — covering the food court in Phase 1 and the restaurant facility in Phase 2 — a separate food court is being developed on the Sabarmati Riverfront side of GIFT City. This area will exclusively serve vegetarian food.

Out of the total 27,000 sq m area within GIFT City on the western bank of the Sabarmati, 6,300 sq m will be dedicated to this vegetarian food zone that will have local and international brand partnerships — although no fast-food or non-vegetarian restaurant will be permitted here.

India’s Fourth Central Park In The Making

Another senior official said that for employees, visitors, and business delegations at GIFT City offices, the Central Park will provide both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, while the Riverfront food court will focus on vegetarian and "culturally Indian" cuisine.

Around India, there already exist three other famous Central Parks. The Central Park at GIFT City will be India's fourth, after ones in Navi Mumbai, Kolkata, and Jaipur.
