The Union government has approved the empanelment of four senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for appointment to Additional Director General (ADG) and equivalent-level posts at the Centre, paving the way for their consideration for key leadership positions in central security and law enforcement organisations.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) cleared the empanelment late on Wednesday. The officers belong to the 1996 and 1997 batches of the IPS and are now eligible for appointment to ADG and equivalent-level posts under the Central Government.

Empanelment is a significant step in the Centre's senior staffing process, enabling officers to be considered for leadership assignments in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), central police organisations, investigative agencies and other departments of the Government of India. However, it does not automatically result in a posting, as appointments are made against available vacancies based on administrative requirements and government decisions.

The officers empanelled are 1996-batch Hyderabad/Telangana cadre officer Hanif Qureshi and three 1997-batch officers - Solomon Yash Kumar Minz of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, S Sengathir of the Rajasthan cadre and Naveen Arora of the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

Qureshi is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries. Minz is posted as Additional Director General at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Sengathir is serving as Additional Director General of Police (Vigilance) in the Rajasthan Police, while Arora is the Additional Director General (Technical Services) in the Uttar Pradesh Police, based in Lucknow.

Following their empanelment, the officers will be eligible for appointment to senior positions across a range of central organisations, including the Central Armed Police Forces, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), intelligence and security agencies, as well as various ministries and departments under the Central Government, subject to the availability of vacancies and administrative decisions.
