The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday appointed senior IPS officer Madhup Kumar Tiwari as the DGP of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. He is a 1995-batch IPS officer of AGMUT (Arunachal, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territory).
Tiwari has been transferred from the national capital to Chandigarh and he will be replaced by Devesh Chandra Srivastava,another 1995-batch IPS and current DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands (A&NI).
Surendra Singh Yadav, a 1997-batch IPS of the AGMUT cadre, has been made the new DGP to A&NI.
The Ministry of Home is the cadre controlling authority of the AGMUT cadre IAS and IPS officers.
