Daljit Singh Chaudhary Appointed Director General Of Sashastra Seema Bal

Daljit Singh Chaudhary, a UP cadre IPS officer of the 1990 batch, has been appointed as the Director General of the paramilitary force Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Chaudhary was serving as Special DG of the Central Reserve Police Force.

A notification for his appointment was issued by the Department of Personnel on Friday after clearance from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by the prime minister.

According to the notification, Chaudhary’s tenure will last till his retirement on November 30, 2025. His appointment is to fill the vacancy created by the premature repatriation of Maharashtra cadre IPS Rashmi Shukla, who has been made the state’s Director General of Police.

The SSB was established as a Special Service Bureau in May 1963 in the aftermath of the Chinese aggression in 1962. It was brought under the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2001 and was declared a Lead Intelligence Agency for the Indo-Nepal border and was also assigned to guard it.

Subsequently, it was also assigned to guard the Indo-Bhutan border in 2004.
