CRPF’s Nalin Prabhat Named Chief of NSG; IB's Sapna Tewari Promoted To Special Director

Nalin Prabhat, a senior IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of the National Security Guard (NSG), a special counter-terrorism unit under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Presently, he is serving as the Additional Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). 

Prabhat is a 1992 batch IPS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, serving in the CRPF, which is a reserved police force under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Prabhat will be serving as the DG of NSG until his superannuation, which is scheduled for August 31, 2028, as per the personnel ministry's order.

Separately, Sapna Tewari, Additional Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), has been promoted to the post of Special Director. IB is the country's internal spy agency. 

Tewari will be serving as the Special Director till the date of superannuation, which is scheduled for April 30, 2026.
