The Central Government has approved extensions in the tenure or service of five senior officers serving in key ministries and departments, including Petroleum & Natural Gas, Defence, Social Justice & Empowerment and Revenue.
Vinod Seshan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has been granted an extension of his central deputation tenure for two years beyond March 8, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Parveen Kumar Thind, Joint Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, has also been granted a two-year extension of his central deputation tenure beyond March 1, 2027.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Defence, has been granted an extension of his central deputation tenure for four months beyond December 6, 2026, by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
S.K. Jha, CSS, Joint Secretary, Department of Revenue, has been granted an extension of tenure by the ACC up to October 31, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
WB DGP Gets 6-Month Extension
In another significant decision, Siddh Nath Gupta, IPS (WB:1992), DG & IGP, West Bengal, has been granted a six-month extension in service beyond October 31, 2026. The extension has been approved in public interest with relaxation of Rule 16(1) of the AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958.
