Based on the notification issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), as many as 27 senior IAS officers have been promoted and appointed at the Additional Secretary level in the Government of India. Among them, three officers from the Gujarat cadre — Mona Khandhar, Aarti Kanwar and Vijay Nehra — have been entrusted with key responsibilities in important Union ministries.

According to the orders, several senior IAS officers have been either promoted or shifted as Additional Secretaries across major ministries, including Civil Aviation, Personnel & Training, Agricultural Research, Commerce, Power, Finance, and the Prime Minister’s Office, indicating a significant administrative reshuffle at the senior policy level.

Among the Gujarat-cadre officers, 1996-batch IAS officer Mona Khandhar has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. 2001-batch IAS officer Aarti Kanwar has been posted as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles, while Vijay Nehra has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The Additional Secretary-level position in the Union government’s administrative structure is considered crucial for both policy formulation and high-level programme implementation, and the latest reshuffle is being viewed as an effort to accelerate decision-making and strengthen coordination across ministries.

Among other key decisions, Sridhar Chiruvolu has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, moving up from his earlier role as Joint Secretary. Diwakar Nath Mishra has been shifted from the Department of Revenue to the Ministry of Power, while Ankita Mishra Bundela has been transferred from the Health Ministry to the Department of Agriculture. Additionally, Anju Sharma has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The ACC order covers a total of 27 senior IAS officers, marking one of the notable recent rounds of appointments at the Additional Secretary level in the central administrative framework.
