Centre Appoints Manoj Yadava As RPF Chief, IB’s Rizvi As NDMA Advisor

Senior IPS officer Manoj Yadava’s new appointment as the head of the Railway Protection Force until his superannuation has scuttled any chance of him being re-appointed as the DGP of Haryana, according to sources

The central government has appointed senior IPS officer Manoj Yadava as the new Director General (DG) of the Railway Protection Force, moving him out of the National Human Right Commission (NHRC) where he headed its investigation wing.

Yadava, a 1988-batch IPS officer from the Haryana cadre, will succeed Sanjay Chander, 1987-batch IPS officer from the West Bengal cadre, who would complete his tenure on July 31. Yadava would hold his new post in the Ministry of Railways until his superannuation in July 2025.

Yadava was earlier the Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana before moving on to the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 2021, from where he was shifted to the NHRC in 2022.

He is the senior-most IPS officer of the Haryana cadre and his name apparently cropped up again as a possible candidate, as the state government is looking to appoint its new Police Chief, in consultation with the Union Public Service Commission.

According to sources, Yadava’s new appointment as DG, RPF, has scuttled any chance of him being re-appointed as the DGP of Haryana.

In another release issued by the central government, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the curtailment of the tenure of senior IPS officer Shafi Ahsan Rizvi at the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and has shifted him to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) instead as an Advisor, until his superannuation in January 2026.

Rizvi, a 1989-batch IPS officer from the Uttarakhand cadre, was the Special Director at the domestic spy agency.
