ACC Approves Premature Repatriation of IPS Officer on Personal Grounds; Extended Cooling-Off Condition Imposed

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the premature repatriation of Ms. Vidya Jayant Kulkarni, IPS (Tamil Nadu cadre, 1998 batch), who was serving as Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), to her parent cadre on personal grounds.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on May 25, 2026, the proposal for her premature repatriation was cleared with the imposition of an extended cooling-off condition under provisions of para 14.2 of the IPS Tenure Policy.
The communication was issued by the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
Ms. Kulkarni had been serving in a key position in the CBI as Joint Director. The order has been communicated to the PMO, Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs and other concerned departments for necessary action.
