CBDT Chairman Nitin Gupta Gets Extension Till June Next Year

CBDT Chairman Nitin Gupta, who was scheduled to retire Saturday, has been reappointed by the Modi government and he will continue to helm the apex policy-making body for personal and corporate tax till June 30, 2024, on contractual basis.

The government move is in line with the policy of maintaining continuity in the top echelons of the bureaucracy till the parliamentary polls next year.

Earlier, the government extended the tenure of Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba and Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla for one year.

Besides being the chairman of the The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Gupta also handled the crucial charge of being member (investigation), who supervises sensitive cases and investigation wing DGIT across the country.
