The Build India Infra Awards (BIIA) is ready for its third edition. The flagship award function underscores the undisputed importance of iconic infrastructure necessary in nation-building. Besides, it also aims at recognising excellence across innovation, impact, and sustainability.

The awards event is aimed at celebrating iconic infrastructure, besides recognising excellence across innovation, impact, and sustainability.

This edition of the BIIA marks a shift from a traditional sector-based awards model to a category-driven structure, designed to celebrate visionaries, changemakers, and budding innovators.

Entries Invited

Entries are invited from various stakeholders in infrastructure development. The entries will be evaluated by an esteemed jury panel that includes Amitabh Kant, former CEO, Niti Aayog, and India's G20 Sherpa (2022–2025).

The awards will give special focus on sectors such as roads, ports, aviation, railways, urban transport, water infrastructure, power transmission, and ITS, among others.

"The Build India initiative aligns seamlessly with the government's vision of encouraging excellence, innovation, and sustainability in the infra development movement," says Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Minister of Civil Aviation.

The entries will be assessed on parameters such as breakthrough ideas, advanced materials, cutting-edge technology, new construction methods, and digital tools and smart engineering, under the innovation theme.

Sustainability Parameter

Sustainability will be at the forefront. This includes effective reduce-reuse-recycle practices, the use of low-carbon or sustainable materials in infrastructure-related projects and initiatives, the adoption of energy-efficient and climate-friendly systems, and sustainable methods with measurable environmental gains.

Special awards will also be given for "outstanding leadership in infrastructure", "excellence in Indian infrastructure projects", and "trailblazing, cross-sector, or first-of-its-kind innovations".

The awards ceremony, for which The Secretariat is a media partner, is scheduled to be held in Delhi NCR on February 24, 2026. The winners will be felicitated in recognition of their contributions to infrastructure excellence.

Build India Infra Awards Platform

The Build India Infra Awards platform has become a large-scale industry event featuring multiple sectors and projects, along with participation from senior stakeholders and experts.

In recent years, the government has spent enormously on capital expenditure for infrastructure development (from ₹2 lakh crore in 2014-15 to an estimated ₹11.21 lakh crore in the 2025-26, the capital expenditure saw a remarkable rise). Measures have also been taken to ease restrictions and boost entrepreneurs' confidence. As per official data, since 2014, there has been a 500% increase in the road transport and highway budget allocation, leading to a substantial enhancement in infrastructure development. Other sectors that witnessed extensive growth include the railways.

PM GatiShakti National Master Plan

With the Union Budget 2026-27 approaching, the government is also expected to form strategies to ease restrictions for enhanced participation of private players. Various schemes and initiatives have also been introduced in recent years.

In 2021, the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan was launched for "integrated infrastructure development" using a digital platform to streamline planning across Ministries. As India aims to achieve developed nation status, world-class infrastructure supporting an integrated transport system across roads, ports, railways, and airports will be crucial.
