In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Thursday approved the appointment of 21 senior officers from IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS and other central services as Joint Secretaries and equivalent officers in various ministries and departments of the Government of India.

The appointments were cleared through an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on May 8, 2026.

Among the prominent appointments, Rajasthan cadre IAS officer Prakash Rajpurohit (RJ:2010) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence Production, while Bihar cadre IAS officer M. Ramachandru has been posted as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

IAS officer Amit Kumar (JH:2010) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, and Shiv Pal Singh, IFoS (UP:1997), has been named Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Cooperation.

The ACC also appointed Vijay Namdeorao Zade (PB:2002) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence Production and D. Senthil Pandiyan (UD:2002) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation.

In another key posting, IRS officer Manisha Saxena has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Health Research, while Vivek Kumar Daksh has been posted as Senior Deputy Director General (Administration) in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The reshuffle also includes appointments in Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Justice, Fisheries, Coal, Social Justice & Empowerment and National Archives of India.
