Amit Garg Named Director Of National Police Academy In Major Reshuffle In Central Security Forces

Centre announces key postings across IB, CISF, CRPF, and BSF, with senior IPS officers from the 1993 batch taking on key roles in security agencies

The Centre made significant changes in the key roles of central agencies on Saturday through a major reshuffle. Senior IPS officers have been appointed to important positions in IB, CISF, CRPF, BSF, and SVPNPA.

Praveen Ranjan has been appointed as the Special Director General of CISF, while Amit Garg has been entrusted to lead the National Police Academy.

Vivek Gogia, who served as the Director of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), has been repatriated to AGMUT.

Amit Garg, a 1993 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre officer, has been appointed as the new Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), with a tenure till October 2027.

Praveer Ranjan, also a 1993 IPS officer from AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories) cadre, has been appointed as the Special Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for a tenure of two years.

In the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Vitul Kumar, an IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh's 1993 batch, has been appointed as the Special Director General. Kumar will hold this post until his retirement, which is due on 31st August 2028.

The Border Security Force (BSF), responsible for safeguarding India’s borders, will get R Prasad Meena, a 1993-batch IPS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, as its new Special Director General.

In the Intelligence Bureau (IB), four senior IPS officers were promoted to the post of Special Director. The four new appointees are all 1993 IPS officers - Rithwik Rudra of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, Mahesh Dixit of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, Praveen Kumar of the West Bengal cadre, and Arvind Kumar of the Bihar cadre.
