The government on Wednesday gave Amandeep Garg, a 199-batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, the additional charge of the Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board.
In an order, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) said, “The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Chairman, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) to 1999-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre Amandeep Garg.”
Garg will hold the position in addition to his role as additional secretary, MoEF&CC, until the appointment of a regular incumbent or further orders, whichever is earlier.
The CPCB is a statutory organisation under the MoEF&CC that is responsible for promoting cleanliness of streams, wells, and air in India.
The body advises the government on pollution control measures and enforces environmental laws across the country.
