ACC Extends Tenure Of DG For Shipping, Shyam Jagannathan, By Two Years

1997-batch IAS officer to continue in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways till June 1, 2028, in the rank of Additional Secretary

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a two-year extension in the central deputation tenure of Shyam Jagannathan, IAS (AM:1997), who is serving as Director General (Shipping) in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 23, 2026, Jagannathan will continue in his present position in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India for a further period of two years beyond June 1, 2026.

The extension will remain effective until June 1, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Shyam Jagannathan has been overseeing key maritime administration and regulatory functions as Director General (Shipping), and the extension is expected to provide continuity in the implementation of policies and reforms in the shipping sector.
