The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Anurag Jain (IAS: Madhya Pradesh cadre, 1989 batch) as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog/
According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday, Jain’s appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of the post. He will continue in the position until the completion of his approved extension in service, and thereafter for an overall period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The order further states that Anurag Jain will serve on the same terms and conditions as were applicable to his predecessor.
A senior IAS officer of the 1989 batch, Anurag Jain has held several key assignments in both the Government of India and the Madhya Pradesh Government. His appointment comes at a crucial time when NITI Aayog is steering policy initiatives linked to Viksit Bharat @2047, economic reforms, digital governance, infrastructure development, manufacturing, and cooperative federalism.
NITI Aayog, the Government of India’s premier public policy think tank, plays a central role in policy formulation, inter-governmental coordination, and long-term development strategy. With Jain taking over as CEO, the institution is expected to continue driving reforms aimed at accelerating India’s economic transformation and achieving its long-term development goals.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) through an order issued by Manisha Saxena, Secretary, ACC & Establishment Officer, under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
