After a long wait, a major reshuffle has been carried out in the Gujarat Police. The state Home Department has transferred 37 IPS officers. Several posts have been upgraded or downgraded as part of the exercise. Notably, Shamsher Singh, who had returned from a central deputation and had been waiting for a posting for a long time, has finally been accommodated. He has been appointed as Director, Civil Defence and Commandant General, Home Guards.

Meanwhile, Nirlipt Rai has been transferred from the State Monitoring Cell and appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajkot Range. The appointment has been made by downgrading the post that had fallen vacant after the transfer of Ashok Kumar. Ashok Kumar has now been posted as IGP (Intelligence). Several IPS officers who had remained without postings for months have now been assigned responsibilities based on their suitability.

Raghvendra Vats, who was serving as JPC Crime in Surat, has been transferred as IGP, Ahmedabad Range. However, Vabang Zamir has been moved out of Surat and is currently placed on waiting for posting.

Balram Meena has been shifted from the post of ADC to the Governor and appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police, Surat (Sector-1). Most of the officers who were in the “waiting for posting” category have now been given new assignments, a move that had been under discussion in the Secretariat for months.

Importantly, Parixita V Rathod, who was serving as IGP in CID Crime, has been posted as IGP of the Banaskantha Range. In terms of geographical area, Banaskantha is the second-largest range in the state after Kutch, and a new range has been created accordingly. K.N. Damor has been shifted from Surat and posted as IGP in CID Crime. Gagandeep Gambhir, who was serving in the administration wing, has been given the additional charge of the State Monitoring Cell.
