The Central Government has approved the induction of 17 officers from the Gujarat State Civil Service (SCS) into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) under the Select List of 2025, according to a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 25, 2026.
The notification, issued under the provisions of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954 and the IAS (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955, states that the President has appointed the selected officers to the IAS against vacancies arising during the period from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025. The officers have been allocated to the Gujarat cadre and will remain on probation until further orders.
The DoPT notification further clarifies that the appointments will be subject to the outcome of several Special Civil Applications currently pending before the Gujarat High Court.
With the induction of these 17 officers, Gujarat's administrative machinery will receive a fresh batch of senior officers in the IAS cadre, strengthening the state's higher bureaucracy. The year of allotment and seniority of the promoted officers will be determined separately in accordance with the IAS (Regulation of Seniority) Rules after the State Government submits the required proposals.
